Foot Reflexology and Reiki sessions are quiet, meditative experiences that are designed to promote health and wellness. Especially with Foot Reflexology, it is important to know that this is Not a ‘foot massage’ and the environment is worlds away from that of a pedicure or spa treatment. For more information on what foot reflexology and Reiki are, please visit the Learn More section.
Sessions do not require disrobing. It is best to wear or bring loose fitting, comfortable clothing such as sweats, or a tee-shirt and shorts. For your comfort and maximum benefit, please wear no heavy make-up, perfumes, lotions, or jewelry.
Arriving for your appointment a few (5 – 10) minutes early will allow you to use the restroom, turn off your cell phone (And smart watches!!) and take a few deep breaths before your session begins which will maximize the benefits you experience. This is also helpful for clients that need to change into comfy clothes. By doing this, the appointment time can be completely about the session with no lost time.
Upon entering the session room , you will want to make sure your cell phone is off, empty your pockets and remove your belt, shoes and jewelry.
On the first visit, the practitioner will have a preliminary talk with you to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. New clients may be asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire prior to their first visit in order for the practitioner to properly assess and tailor the session for their needs.
This session is all about you and your relaxation. Clients will lie prone on a massage table with proper linens and pillows.
The lights will be dim and some soft nature sounds playing. Clients are free to request different soothing music or no music. The goal is to provide a comfortable environment for you, the client, to unwind an de-stress.
Communication is very important so if ever you experience something painful, please speak up! This is NOT a “no pain, no gain” scenario. There are the “hurt so good” points that indicate the release of tension in the muscles and there are “Ow-ies”. We do not want any “Ow-ies”.
In order to receive the maximum benefits for your session, general chatting is discouraged. Running conversations can take away from the relaxation. However, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
After the session it is important to drink plenty of water. Similar to massage, toxins can be released from the tissues and need to be flushed.
At the end of the session some people are ready to go take a nap. Some get energized and some are peaceful but alert. These are all normal responses and they vary from person to person and session to session. Holistic work of this nature is a balancer, so whatever is needed by the client at the time is what will happen.
Some people feel the effects of the session right away. Sometimes in a few hours or the next morning upon waking. Sometimes it can take up to 3 days to really process how the session affected you. In cases where a person has been holding very hard stress patterns over a long period of time, it could take several sessions to start noticing a difference.
Sessions can be scheduled for as few as 30 minutes all the way up to 90 minutes. The most common session length is 60 minutes.
The general experience is that the longer the session, the deeper the relaxation and therefore the maximum benefit. Most clients find a 60 minute session to be the most beneficial. When time / schedule is a factor, 30 minute sessions can be the perfect compromise of receiving the session desired and being able to fit it in to a busy schedule.
In most cases, sessions should not go beyond 90 minutes. After 90 minutes, clients may begin to experience “too much of a good thing” which can result in some temporary but negative after effects (detox, healing crisis).
All Wellness Coaching and 17 Changes Program appointments are 90 minutes.
